چکیده

This paper is essentially a progress report on the developments in the field of metal chelate catalysis since the first review of this subject fifteen years ago'. For the purpose of defining the scope of this field, metal chelate catalysis is considered to include any reaction that is altered or modified by metal ions through chelate ring formation, as well as reactions of metal chelates themselves. The relatively narrow definition of catalysis, in which the catalytic substance remains unaltered at the end of each reaction cycle or sequence thus constitutes oniy a part of the overall topic under discussion. The catalytic reactions which do not fit this specific definition may be considered as being "promoted" or "inhibited" by metal chelate ring formation.

Mononuclear Nickel(II) Complexes with Schiff Base Ligands: Synthesis, Characterization, and Catalytic Activity in Norbornene Polymerization

The nickel(II) catalyst has manifested higher catalytic activity compared to that of other late transition metal catalysts for norbornene polymerization. Therefore, several structurally similar trans-nickel(II) compounds of N,O-chelate bidentate ligands were synthesized and characterized. Both the electronic effect and the steric hindrance influence polymerization. The molecular structures of 2...

Synthesis and Metal Ion Uptake Studies of Silica Gel-Immobilized Schiff Base Derivatives and Catalytic Behaviors of their Cu(II) Complexes

New silica supported Schiff base ligands were prepared by the condensation reaction of 4,6-diacetylresorcinol with silica-gel derivatives, which modified with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and N-(2-aminoethyl) -3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane. Metal ion uptake capacities of these compounds were studied towards of selected transition metal (Cd(II), Cu(II), Co(II), Mn(II), Pb(II) and Ni(II)) cations...

Electronic Structure Determination of Pyridine N-Heterocyclic Carbene Iron Dinitrogen Complexes and Neutral Ligand Derivatives

The electronic structures of pyridine N-heterocyclic dicarbene (iPrCNC) iron complexes have been studied by a combination of spectroscopic and computational methods. The goal of these studies was to determine if this chelate engages in radical chemistry in reduced base metal compounds. The iron dinitrogen example (iPrCNC)Fe(N2)2 and the related pyridine derivative (iPrCNC)Fe(DMAP)(N2) were stud...

Furin inhibition by compounds of copper and zinc.

Furin, a human subtilisin-related proprotein convertase (SPC), is emerging as an important pharmaceutical target because it processes vital proteins of many aggressive pathogens. Furin inhibitors reported as yet are peptide derivatives and proteins, with the exception of andrographolides, which are natural compounds. Here we report that the small and highly stable compounds M(chelate)Cl(2) (M i...
